How should these Canon PP9000 Mk II parameters be set?

Please see the small dialog box.  What does the term "application" mean? Is that my photo editor or the printer driver? I am assuming it is photo editor.  It seems that for editor management of color the boxes should be unchecked.  For driver color management should they be checked?  If so, I wonder how many folks having problems (e.g. magenta!)  have been doing this.  Thanks.
