D600's significant price drop and Nikon's FF policy...

I know it's true in some countries... I think it may be a topical policy due to misjudgment of orders from factory before D600 was introduced. OTOH it does prove that in Nikon, they have trapped  themselves in a strange internal competition game...

IMO, D800 is the camera that is causing the problem in the Nikon line, It does try to compete both with D800E and with D600... I believe that in Nikon they never designed D800, it was D800E that was the aim in the first place and the reason was to both attract much of the MF market and provide an "absolute IQ" DSLR to FF users... D800 was introduced because they got afraid that "moire hysteria" may damage the camera's appeal and they thought that D800 would both provide an alternative and educate the market...

Maybe they where right on the above, but now that the market has been educated and D600's IQ is as good as D800... maybe they should only keep the "E" and offer a fast D800 bearing D4's sensor and much smaller files as an alternative... This would surely attract D700 users which were expecting a real D700 upgrade in the first place... It should also expand their FF market share further since they only have high res. cameras in production (D4 excluded of course) which seems strange..., why do they ignore such a significant FF market volume instead of adding it?
