memory card wants to format when put in pc. help!

What I suggest you try is rather than reading the memory card on a PC, connect the camera to the PC via USB and read it from the camera.

I had a problem shooting video with a  Canon HF100.
I was going to an out-of-town location and wanted to take some other files, so I copied them to the SD card in the videocam, which was previously formatted in the videocam.

At the remote location a few people shot some small video clips for a class project. When I read the SD card in a school PC those video clips were not there, tho they were with the SD card in the videocam. Back at home, read the SD card in one of my PCs and the missing video clips WERE there and just fine. It seems that having added files to the SD card with a PC screwed things up, so now - don't do that.
