If you cross thread a tripod bushing to the point where it jambs up and goes tight. The next

damage is to the material around the bushing because you will be trying to twist that also.

Also consider the fact that the tripod thread may have been to long and bottomed out.

This also would have caused the bush mounting plate to bulge out.

The scuff marks on the bottom of your olympus. I have 4 tripods. 2 without quick release plates.

I have never marked the bottom of any of my cameras.

I have over 30 years experience in engineering and come across this type of damage often.

Take it to an engineer . I am pretty sure they would concur with my explanations .

Not that it really matters as the damage is done.

Had i noticed the bulge if i bought the camera. i would have returned it.
