Is there really no way to eliminate the on camera flash for the OM-D?

As mentioned in my original post, I use a card to keep the light from going straight forward, but I find it annoying to have to rig up some kind of contraption to do this.  Strictly speaking it doesn't solve the problem as you still get some spill around the room.  Practically it works fine, as long as the other light is much brighter, if you can figure out a way to mount the card.  My question is really if there is something I'm missing, or if a mechanical solution such as this is the only way around it...
