In terms of noise, I have to wonder what people are thinking sometimes when they make comments about noise. Yes this camera gets noisy once you crank up the ISO due to it's small sensor size but there is a lot more to photos than noise, and pixel peeping IMHO and I think many of these types of photographers are really missing the boat by fixating on issues that may not have any relevance to others. I come from a world where film had grain and high ISO film doesn't even come close to this camera's ability.
Kevin, I don't know if you were addressing me or not but, personally, I am not fixated on noise any more than any other aspect of image quality. I know many here talk a lot about image noise and I do too sometimes but It doesn't mean we are any less serious about taking great pictures too.
I'm actually very interested in the entire process of capturing an interesting image and working with the files to create my desired result. For me that means understanding how the camera creates its Jpegs for when I want to use those files and how to best process the Raw files for when I want to get the very best image quality. I also enjoy discovering tips and tricks that can take the image quality even further. This is what I was addressing in my post when I was talking about the fast 12fps speed of the camera in Raw that makes it desirable for much more then just action shots. It is such a capable camera from beginners to serious enthusiasts.

Hi, Tim. Nope, have not read any of your posts. I was quoting and replying to the OP.
I come from the world of darkroom and film so I'm predisposed to trying to create the best possible image out of the box and not relying too heavily on post production 'magic' but that was how my workflow evolved. Plus the fact that in the darkroom you were limited to basics such as dodging and burning and colour filtration to get your colour balance right. I guess if my name was Jerry U then that might be a bit different... Which is why I'm quite happy with the results from the FZ200, shooting jpeg I don't have a lot of post work to do whether it be colour correction or exposure.
Do notice that without making adjustments in high key lighting situations the highlights can get blown out but that can be adjusted with exposure comp in camera.
I shoot a lot of 'difficult' lighting situations with the FZ and so far I'm quite impressed by what it can do. Of course it is not my 5D but unless I really need huge files blown up the FZ does the job.
