lensfun is a database and library that allows applications to access and save lens correction settings: http://lensfun.berlios.de/lensfun

Most of the free open-sources software are using this library for the lens (auto-)correction, including the UFRaw http://ufraw.sourceforge.net/lensfun.html

and the Gimp (plugin): http://lensfun.sebastiankraft.net/

Here is described how to add a new lens to the database by using just the open-source Hugin package:
