Thom Hogan review of NEX-7

Sorry but you hit a nerve with your post.  Fuji is a good camera, so is Sony, but if you read the Fuji forum, it is loaded with people posting comments like yours.  They make it sound like the Fuji is light years ahead of anything else out there when in actuality, nothing out there is light years ahead of anything else out there. There are differences, agreed, but not to the degree that the Fuji people tout.

As a matter of fact, do yourself a favor and compare this site's studio shots of the Fuji vrs the Sony NEX 5 and 7.  The Sony wins hands down.  BTW, what exactly did you not like about your NEX7 shots that you couldn't fix in post?  The shots you posted didn't IMHO jump off the screen.

The JPGs you get out of the Fuji are no doubt nice, but they are the result of Fuji's JPG engine, which isn't too hard to duplicate in post.  Just crank up the saturation and sharpness and you pretty much have the Fuji look.

The fact that RAW support still doesn't exist makes me think that Fuji may have an issue ever getting RAW support, which for me is a deal breaker.  That's another thing I read on the Fuji forum, "who needs RAW".  Really?

The Fuji system, IMHO is a nice camera idea, with some very serious shortcomings.

Again, I apologize, Fuji guys just seem to pi$$ me off.
