Meh, honestly I'm on the fence. I really don't want to get rid of it , since it's such a great camera and will give the best results should I need it. But that is only if I use it to its potential. I already bought a Zeiss lens for Sony - 24mm f1.8 for the NEX system. Ugh, I think really should have decided first..

It's not the end of the world. Evaluate what your end product is. Will the smaller lighter outfits fill the need, then go for it. If you can hold on the D800 for a while to get a good feel, that would be ideal. I'm researching these smaller ones for a supplement to my large stuff. For now, my needs would not allow me to make the decision you are contemplating.

Well, ideally I want a camera that I can also travel with. NEX-7 seems to fit this purpose more than D800. D800 is obviously better for low light and action shots. So I would be disappointed to lose it for those reasons.

However, the samples with the Zeiss 24 1.8 / NEx-7 look really really nice

The more samples I see from that lens the more I like it.

And these are JPEG out of camera too.
