"What is a scenery... to you?"
Nov 26, 2012

To me,

1/ a scenery is a landscape, cityscape, oceanscape... etc which mimics what I can see.

2/ It has to be landscape orientation, with a viewing 'depth between 5m to 10km'

3/ bokeh's are not suitable, as the human eye cannot see bokehs

4/ my final evaluation of whether a shot is suitable to be a scenery, is to see how successful it can be used in the background of a theatrical play/performance.

My last few challenges have received a bench, a zoomed shot of statue, a zoom/crop of bird in a tree, and a staircase. I've dq-ed a some of them, but there's still a few which I am lost for words how to explain to them why it's not suitable (IMO).

I was going to ask Louis (since he attended multiple art schools) and Steve but would like to open this question to other sensible rational members here as well.
