The Olympus 60 macro is no better than the Panasonic 45 2.8

And… the point is?

When I was looking for a macro lens, I chose a Nikon 60mm f2.8 over the Pana/Leica 45mm f2.8 for several reasons…

The focal length. 60mm is nice to work with, giving me a bit more reach, which especially good for ground level shooting.

The price. The Nikon for $300 + a $20 lens adaptor vs. $700? DUH. That allowed me to get a $300 Nikon 105mm f2.8 AI-S macro (for flying critters) in addition to the 60mm for less than the PL45mm alone. Gotta LOVE KEH!

And for me, autofocus is of limited utility for macro shooting when looking for critical focus. I hate focus-by-wire, so generally prefer manual lenses.

That said, having read numerous reviews and seen many sample shots, the Oly 60mm f2.8 macro has me debating whether or not I'll sell the Nikon and buy one. Of course I'd need to try one and test it's manual focus feel and function.
