I'm just back from the trip to Belgium with an iPod touch as only camera. Either one needs much more skills and patience than I have, or a DSLR is really needed to get the photos I want.

I missed landscape shots, because I did not bring a landscape lens, portraits because I did not have a portrait lens, distant object because I did not have a zoom, tiny object because I did not have a macro lens and shots in dark settings, because I did not bring any fast prime or any DSLR with decent high ISO handling or high dynamic range.

That phone camera project seems more difficult than I had hoped. Next trip will most probably be a D800 trip.
