My Old Tokina 28-70 2.8 AT-X Pro

Hi folks,
I've got this lens with a Nikon mount from my old 35mm/APS days. It is autofocus, but the camera must provide the motor and it has no stabilization, but it's only 70mm.
I want a new camera. This lens will AF with a Nikon D7000, but the camera is large and expensive. This lens will not AF with a D5200, but that camera is smaller and cheaper, until I add in the price of a comparable lens.
I have always liked this lens. Is it worth hanging on to or should I not let it enter into my decision making as to which camera I should buy?
TIA, Eric
