A friend once asked me to shoot their wedding. There was also this professional photographer there who had the standard wedding kit of a 20-35L and 70-200/2.8L. I, being my I-don't-hop-on-bandwagons self, of course, own absolutely no Canon glass, and shoot entirely with a bag of manual primes (Contax Zeiss, Takumar, Helios, etc.). That photographer had this face of horror every time I switched lenses, but I just kept going, and I'm pretty sure I had a lot more unique shots.

I also probably paid a lot less for my lenses than he did. But for me it's not an issue of money; even if you gifted me a 70-200/2.8L the first thing I'd do is sell it and buy some more rare and funky manual primes. I'm just like that. I like to be different.
