Re: Superior versus idiosyncratic autofocus
In reply to David Lal, Nov 25, 2012

D300s autofocus is more suitable for motorsports then the D7000.  The result is you get more shots in focus. I have purchased a D300s and D700 for motorsports, I was not to happy with the D7000 due to the autofocus #1 and what I perceived to be the risk in stability with a large lens mounted to the body with much less stiffness and strength.  The superior sensor of the D7000 does not make a better case for motorsports.

Th D7000 owners in my experience defend their camera choice with "it's a great autofocus" and "snobbery" comments quite often... but the weaknesses are more substantial with long glass and fast moving subjects.

Now, having said that, I would like to see an improvement in autofocus technology for my next camera purchase (D400?) as this is so important.
