I agree that if the feature is on a camera then it should work correctly. However, I've seen several mentions about this on all the X cameras and most of the users also have a DSLR. I want to ask just how many ever check the focus distance on their DSLR lens because I never do and I don't know a single photographer who does. Maybe I'm lucky because for distances where it might matterĀ  to know before taking a picture I can tell within a half a foot how far the distance is and certainly enough for zone focusing.

I'm curious - apart from zone focusing using aperture/DoF - why do you need to actually know the distance?
