I honestly think that you should try the Sigma 19 or 30 (on sale for $150 here: and learn to shoot low light. Put the camera in A, set it to 2.8, ISO to 1600 and see what you can get.

Or you could try the 50mm/1.4 or new 35 when it comes out, both which have OSS. I'm not trying to sound like a dick but I honestly think that the limiting factor is rather your ability as a photographer rather than the camera itself. Get out of auto, take pictures and practice; it's the fastest and easiest way to get better.

Also, consider making a flash bouncer thingy-ma-jiggy out of cardboard and tin foil to avoid the awkwardness of bouncing it yourself. I personally don't use it on my NEX but I made one before with my old Rebel and found it to be pretty effective. Good luck buddy
