Birding with D3200?

Hey fellows. I am wondering if anyone here does birding with D3200 and can comment on it? I have been using the D300 and 500mm with TCs in the past year, and I've often found the megapixels fell short when cropping for the smaller birds. (I can only get so close with the giant setup) I will upgrade to D400 when there's one for sure, but right now the 24MP sensor on D3200 is really tempting me. So it would be nice if anyone can share their experiences.
