HDR questions

I am looking to try playing around and begin trying some HDR photography techniques.  I am also about to purchase Lightroom.

Does Lightroom have the capability of processing the multiple images that make up an HDR image, or will I need Photoshop Elements or even the full blown version of Photoshop to process them?

I have been watching some tutorials and doing some online reading about HDR techniques.  Does anyone have some recommendations for good books about HDR techniques/processes?
