I got Nikon 18-200mm before and it was OK lens (used it for travels a lot, before it was stolen with my camera), was kind of soft starting from 80+ (maybe I got not to good copy...idk). Most likely I'm going to buy new Sigma macro soon (for convenience) - if pincushion distortion is problem for you just use software to correct it (like Lightroom or DxO) All "super-zooms" got some flare problems -more or less. Your wife like some flower/bugs pictures - probably Sigma will be better. Good luck with buy!
