I didn't quite understand you question ('cause my English isn't good enough) but I'll wright what I know.

On SLTs aperture is always opened during live view, But there's a Depth of field review button and if you want close aperture to your current F-setting then you can use the button. while this button is pressed aperture is stopped down and you see real picture of you final image, but of course AF doesn't work when when DOF button is pressed.  sorry if my answer doesn't correspond your question.
