In the "Setup" menu, there is an option called "FINDER/LCD Setting", which per default is set to "Auto". If you set it to "Viewfinder" then the LCD will stay off and you can only use the VF (which still turns on via the proximity sensor).
This goes for the NEX-7 so I guess it is the same for the 6.
after turning off the LCD, will the Viewfinder be always turned on or just will get turned on when bringing our face near to ( via sensor) ?
if so then this can save the battery a lot
