That darn RX100 just doesn't budge price wise. I thought with Black Friday maybe we'd see better pricing. I guess Sony has no caring about that!

Why should they? What`s missing here is the competition / lack of comparable models that would normally cause a RX100 price drop. Until someone brings out something similar Sony will not have to lower their price . At the moment , they pretty much own the high end compact P$S segment.

I think this might even give Sony an upper hand next time around being all they have to do is improve the camera . They have a big head start. The rest will be doing all they can to catch up.

Verducci - you've brought up some good points re: LX7 type camera and benefits of RX100.  The thing for me is that if I'm to pay $650 for a camera, I really want it to be one that I can build a system from, along with getting better IQ than the 1/7 and 1/2.33 sensor cameras.  Yes it's a unique idea to sell a Point and Shoot sized camera with the kind of IQ quality that Sony has done, but a lot of people just aren't going to want such an expensive camera that has a fixed zoom lens.  To me, I'll live with the imperfections of the smaller sensored compacts (ZS3, ZS20 or LX5, LX7) for my carry-around camera, and then spring for great IQ in the more versatile ranges in APC or m4/3.  The most recent Olympus offerings in m4/3 are really nice.

But I do get your point - obviously there's a large market segment that's buying into Sony's offering.
