Help and advice - upgrading from compact...

Hi Toby. I'm not much help on the specifics you are asking. But, my thoughts are it's best to literally touch and hold (and hopefully use) any or all cameras tha interest you. i don't know if you live nearby a reputable and multi-camera storebut it would be worth your while. You could find a camera that does backflips et al but if  you don't enjoy using it it would just sit in your closet. I wish I could promote what I'm saying from insight alone, but unfortunately, it comes from (costly) experiences. It took me three times before I truly found something that inspires me to take photos. Good luck!
