LX7 Black Friday Special -- Samy's Camera (SoCal)

..............Yes , even on Amazon it`s selling for only $299.  Why? Since it was announced it`s been a poor seller along with all small sensored high end compacts. One has only to look at the serious decline in interest in the forums regarding the latest crop of similar competing models from Oly, Samsung and even the Fuji X10 with a 2/3" sensor.

I think the RX100 has simply blown everything else out of the water big time , while pretty much obsoleting the competitions competing models. A high end compact camera with a larger sensor is now what most of us future buyers will wait for. Sony did it and we now know and expect others to follow. We know anything less is a compromise we don`t need to make.

Case in point: obviously the new LX7 is a much more fully featured camera with a record breaking f/1.4 lens vs the LX5 but image quality and high ISO capability isn`t noticeably improved enough from the LX5 to warrant an upgrade or pay the $499 price tag.

There`s no question the RX100 and the Nikon 1 series cameras produce significantly better images even on first glance. I don`t think we will see another 1/1.7" sensored camera in the future from the major camera makers. Just my thoughts on this.
