Looking to upgrade, considering EOS M or NEX 6.

I am looking to get a new camera as my Canon G9 has stopped working after many years. The two I am considering at the moment are the Canon EOS M or the Nex 6 + Kit lens which I can get at a discount price of $900 before tax. Would the NEX-6 be worth the roughly $100 premium over the EOS M? I heard there are problems with the auto-focus on the EOS M as well. Are there any other choices around this price range that I should be considering as well? I want a mirror-less camera rather than a SLR because of the size.
