If you have WB on auto it is bombarded with sunset reds and yellows and tries to compensate. Its not sure of the scene and I am not sure if you choose 'daylight' the camera will get it right. If you have a RAW option and access to a RAW converter just try a snapshot of a sunset and open the NEF file in RAW. The white balance slider can be moved through its entire range to give you a chance to look for the picture you could see in the viewfinder. Note the degree Kelvin that matches your eye and use this for a custom setting for WB sunsets. I have a D70 and D90, not sure what flexibility you have with the D60, hope this helps.
