A Different Flash Problem with A77

I read thru the old threads looking for an answer to my flash problem but it doesn't look like this has come up before.

I'm using a Minolta 3600HSD on my A77 and have had very good results up until last week when I noticed a problem. Seems the flash is firing before the shutter and I get very dark photos. I've tried it with the first curtain shutter set to both off and on but still get the problem. It does the same thing whether it's on the camera or in wireless mode. But when I use the pop up flash on the camera, everything works fine. I've pretty much changed the setting to anything I could think of on the caera and the flash but just can't get the flash to fire at the correct time.

Yes, the flash does fire and recharge. I've taken a photo in wireless and I could see the flash firing but the flash is dark in the capture. This is way I think the flash is firing before the shutter is tripped.

This is firmware 1.06 which I'm thinking could have caused the problem. The last time I had good results was Oct 25th. I can't remember when that Firmware update came out. Is there a was to revert a firmware update?
