Re: Anyone Uses A Tablet To Stream Music To DAC?

I have an iPad, and I assume that the digitally streamed output from the Galaxy is like the iPad's wireless output - limited to 16-bit 44.1kHz (red book standard). If that is the case, then I assume you want to play some hi-res (24-bit 88kHz, 96kHz, etc.) music from your Galaxy - is that why you are looking for a wired solution?
If you are ok with outputting red-book standard from your Galaxy, then you can get a wireless bridge (I use an Airport Express, but I'm sure there are options form D-Link, etc.), and connect that to your DAC. The Galaxy then transmits to the wireless bridge, which is connected to your DAC.
What inputs does your DAC accept? If it accepts USB, then for a wired solution to your Galaxy all you need is the USB connector (on the right in your photo) and a USB cable. If your DAC does not have USB connection, then you can use something like this:
M2tech HiFace2 - which is a high-quality device that plugs into a USB port (like the Galaxy Tab dongle), and you connect a coax cable on the other end, which connects to your DAC. The reviews seem to think that the HiFace2 is pretty nice.
However, I think trying a wired solution from your Galaxy might not be the best route. I keep red-book or lower quality files on my iPad, which I stream to my stereo from anywhere in the house, and I have a computer connected to my DAC that has my hi-res library on it. When I want to do some real listening, I use a VNC app on my iPad to connect to the computer connected to my stereo, and control that computer library from my iPad (still wireless control, but a wired connection). You can pick up a Mac Mini used for a pretty good price and then not worry about a wired connection from your Galaxy.
