We the People *NEED* Forum Moderation

Why not cut out the middle man and simply put a 'ban' button under every post, so that any user can instantly and permanently ban any other user? I have for long been a fervent proponent of this scheme, not because it would actually do any good, but because it would be very entertaining, it would be like observing the quantum vacuum, as the recently banned created new nicks, returned and banned their banner. There would be nick - antinick pairs spontaneously apperaing and self destructing. What fun.

Or, even better. Make the ban button ban the intended victim, but also randomly ban a few hundred users in the vicinity. But the about to be banned get five minutes warning of the impending ban, and who pressed the button, just enough time to launch their own ban before the ban hits. There is just a chance that one might result in better behaviour - it seems to have worked on a larger stage.
