The Olympus forum was like a family back then. People were nice to eachother, helpful, and generous almost to a fault. Now I don't know what happened, but somewhere along the way people just decided to become real jerks to eachother. And that's where we stand today.

No ... many, many more people are here and they are from every walk of life. What actually happened is that everyone and his dog bought a computer and got hooked up to high speed and then went looking for entertainment.

Actually, considering the timeline; that's probably got a lot to do with it.

We need DPR to recruit moderators who live by 2 rules: Everyone elses rules + true sense of justice (what I mean here is that they can't beat up someone just because they don't like them and they can't group up with friends to run boards, either of these happen and it's goodbye moderator and possibly a ban as well).

Yes, moderators who abuse privilege should be banned for life. That one is actually obvious.

But it's best to say it up front so that people are aware that they have an option should this become a problem for them. Never underestimate simple ignorance, or purposeful stupidity for that matter.

We need DPR to give these moderators 1 tool - The Ban Hammer!

No, they actually need more tools than that. And banning should be a last resort. That god your finger is not in the nuclear response button ... the earth would have ended a lot time ago based on some perceived insult or other.

The comparison is over-the-top, and I think that a less complex approach is best.
The bans I've mentioned are an hour, couple hours, a day, a week, a month.
Almost everything would be an hour, 2, or 24; people mostly need to get the $&*@ up off their chair and go do something useful instead of buggering about on the forums over trivial matters.

When a complaint is filed, it MUST be read in a timely fashion and it MUST result in action. Someone *MUST* be banned whenever that button is pushed.

That is puerile thinking. Seriously ... people push the complaint button when they are defeated in a technical argument. You are showing a profound lack of understanding of basic human nature.

Well, you had me interested in your points and your different way of looking at things. I was willing to talk; but then out comes the pathetic petty little insults. So I stopped reading after this. Too bad, because you started with some interesting points.
