That's a nice thought ... but it would require Nikon to acknowledge the problem first -- which, AFAIK, they haven't done yet. Nikon makes a good product (generally), but they don't really have a good reputation when it comes to quickly acknowledging problems with their products, and helping their customers in addressing those problems.
Let's wait and see what really happens ...
