Your reluctance is to be expected if you find the current better software developers deficient.  Frankly, for what I normally shoot my expectations are readily met by LR.  I very seldom use OOC jpgs but don't see any problem with LR.

I admit that I don't spend a lot of time viewing far background foliage at 200% nor do I print at wall sizes, so maybe I am in the minority here but LR does what I want it to.

I do think you should direct your ire at Adobe rather than Fuji however.
