This is one of the most asked Canon questions of all time. If you do a search, you will find thousands of posts and opinions about this.

I have had the 7D, 5DII and 5DIII in that order.

Here is the bottom line, in my opinion. The image quality of the 5DII is significantly better than the 7D, particularly in low light. However, the autofocus of the 7D is significantly better than the 5DII, particularly with moving subjects. If you can afford to keep both the 7D and the 5DII, you are better off with a 5DIII, which has slightly better IQ than the 5DII and slightly better AF than the 7D (best of both worlds). The 5DIII also has several other upgrades, like dual cards and a better LCD.

If you can only afford one $1500 camera (7D or 5DII), you will have to chose between IQ and AF, depending on your priorities. If you can afford $2800, go for the 5DIII.  The other option may be to wait for the 6D, but that will have some tradeoffs as well.
