Backup of large photo library
Nov 22, 2012

I have about 700GB of photos (and a few home videos) stored on my desktop computer.

The OS is one a SSD. There are two other internal drives for storage - each 3TB.

Right now, I just manually copy everything twice - once on each HDD. When I copy it from the camera, I put it in folders in both HDDs. When I make a modification (e.g. I rename a folder or file), I have to do it manually on both.

This is very time consuming. But it has saved my photos occasionally. I don't know why, but sometimes, a few of my pictures just disappear - poof. I have a folder with 300 pictures in it. When I check it next month, it only has 93. I never touched it, and I have no idea how it got deleted (some weird program?). I don't think there is a virus on my computer, and no one else uses it.

But anyways, my backup solution has saved me in the past, but it's too tiring. Is there a better method?
