There is another problem with the youtube video btw, in addition to its statistical insignificance. The author used Curves to make the dust spots visible (see the video at around 1:41 minutes). In the unmodified picture, the spots are almost invisible. Did anyone ever do the same test with another camera, say the D800 or the Canon 5D Mk III? Who knows, maybe we would see similar problems there, only that nobody ever went looking.

I also noticed that "Curves" thing. I was unable to see any spots on the "unaltered" right-hand-side.  Pardon my ignorance, but what are the "Curves"? Are they tonal curves for contrast adjustment or it is something else?

P.S. Similar experiments with 5Dm3 or D4 or D800 are very welcome.
