RAW or JPEG? Which one when?

Re: Really there is a simple answer to this. If you edit the image then you should shoot RAW.

Yes, the destructive part has already happened by the time you get the file. Such is the nature of "bruising" the pixels before you even see them.

Of course, if you never make an exposure or setting mistake, or you shoot in conditions that are not challenging, or you are fine with posterization in skies sometimes, or ...

Not saying you shouldn't do it ... but surely you are aware that it is not always optimal to edit JPEGs.

Of course I am aware. I have been editing images since high school in my early photoshop days. Any image I edit be it RAW or JPEG ends up as a PSD and quite large in size and layers by the time I am done with them, at least the ones I decide to spend time on.
