To be honest, I think you should work on things like avoiding tilted horizons and distracting bushes in the foreground as much as on adding more "punch" to the photo. Remove these two shortcomings and this is a solid shot.

As for the latter, it depends on what you mean by "punch'. The Dramatic filter can certainly do that. So can some curves adjustment, or even just adding a semi-transparent layer set to "hard light" or "soft light" blend mode.

If you're just starting, there is a lot to juggle when it comes to producing the best photos. With today's gear, and the facility for adjustment provided by modern software, I think that concentrating on composition and other elements which actually making the capture is more important than technical elements after the fact.

Some people operate cameras. Others use them to create images. There is a difference.

but the OP really needs to focus on the basics of photography before worrying about technical excellence.

He asked a simple question that clearly outlined where he sits on the learning curve.

Since everyone must climb the same learning curve, perhaps you and a few others might consider that being repeatedly kicked in the head on the way up might slow his progress a bit ...

Why not just help him out instead of backbiting constantly?
