So you want almost nothing the same to compare

I suspect the line about 4/3 DOF being deep comes from a misinterpretation of "Circle of Confusion" (CoC).

No, it it's because to get the same diagonal FOV coverage (ignoring aspect ratio) and the same size print, you have to either use a lens with a shorter focal length OR use the same lens at a greater distance.

For your "fair" comparison, you want different distances, different focal lengths, possibly different aspect ratios, etc....so make everything un-equal.

There are still people arguing that f1.4 = f2.8 so this debate is unlikely to evaporate quietly.

Actually, to get just under 3ft of DOF with a 25mm lens at 10ft subject distance, you need f/2.0. Just plug the numbers into your favorite DOF calculator.

Why is is so hard to understand that lenses don't change properties when put on different cameras?  F/1.4 is always F/1.4.

For DoF, here is the reality...

- FF 50mm, F/2.8 at 10 feet, DoF=2.06 feet

- M43 50mm, F/2.8 at 10 feet, DoF=1.02 feet

You can change the parameters however you want to get your desired results too.  For example you could move the FF camera to 7 feet to get the same DoF.   You could crop the FF image to a 4:3 aspect ratio, and move the M43 camera a foot or back, etc.  Heck, you could even change distance, focal length, apertures and use un-equal ARs to try to make a point!
