Renovate a Ricoh Caplio 500SE

Since the weather is is quite gray and sometimes rainy there I live and this forum is slow and nothing from Ricoh. I thought I would start a small project which have been a little bit in the waiting until I decided what to do.
It seems like I'll go for it. Initially I bought this 500SE with stuck lens because it had a detachable door on the left side which my other 500SE not had. That camera is in far better condition than this one which have seen quite a lot of use. The zoom have got stuck, probably because it has been dropped so I could have it inexpensively for the part which I was looking for.
That was two or three months ago. Having exchanged parts so that the door now can be removed easily on the other 500SE. This well used 500SE has been sitting in a closet since then.
Unfortunately this zoom seems to be far more harder to replace than on the 400G wide. Otherwise I could just get a Caplio GX 5mp and get a zoom from there and still keep the 8mp ccd from the 500SE. It is the same zoom as for the GX and GX8. I'll probably have to send it in for that and do the rest of the job on my own.
The lcd protection screen have two scratches and a short one near the bottom and has been rubbed very well. I Not enough to cause problem. I might exchange it but it is not likely to happen, at least not for now.
Some of the buttons, especially the zoom ,review and ADj.Memo-buttons are well worn. The bubble-switches on the inside have become very soft and I'll probably try and replace these bubbles. Didn't get any better though not worse either when I accidentally broke the fragile plastic which go around the zoom-buttons when I did a major cleaning of the camera not long after the arrival of it. The holes for the neck/hand-strap on the right side have taken some sort of hit as well before I bought. I'll try and smooth out these dents. All of the buttons seems to work though so hopefully not a big problem.
At the front the silicon-ring sits slightly loosely on the protection-tube for the zoom and a small bit of transparent plastic is missing as well. Luckily the protection glass for the zoom is intact and just fine.
The open for the detachable door have taken a hit as well, probably when the zoom was damaged so that the door closes and opens slightly more roughly than it should. Should not be impossibly to fix that either.
