Well, you may have bought it last week, but how long has it been in the shop?
I've not heard of this with new lenses, you might just have a fluke.
Good question! I guess the sales rep saying "these things are selling like hot cakes" and, " Oh we got plenty of those when I called to check stock" don't quite match up
Its gonna be exchanged tomorrow.
