...at different registration distance across various FD bodies - be it M-mount lens examined on native M body vs. NEX; or EF-mount lens examined on native EOS body vs. NEX; it will always be the same FD for each - with the same bokeh for the same shooting parameters: aperture, sensor size, FL, shooting distance, etc.

granted, there are some lenses, like Sigmas, or Zeiss (ZM, ZA, ZE, or ZF) manufactured with different FDs, and yet basically the same design, and yet some changes in their optical formulas must be made to account for FD of 27.95mm (ZM) vs. 44mm (ZE) - which means these lenses not being 100% identical anymore

Does anybody know the answer to my question regarding the effect of shorter register distance design lenses on Bokeh?

when your lens's rear element is only 18 mm from the sensor plane (vs 45 mm for a DSLR), is there any differences in tendencies for the appearance of the Bokeh?

I would think it would be something well understood by lens designers.

Kind of like how everybody knows that mirror lenses give you ugly, ring shaped Bokeh, and curved aperture blades give you smoother Bokeh than straight blades... Only there must be much more advanced knowledge out there about what introducing different lens elements and design constraints specifically change the Bokeh.
