No, no, no Noah. (Sorry, that was just too much fun...)
When shooting RAW, your camera settings such as white balance, sharpening, contrast, shooting mode ("portrait" etc) are ignored. However, your shutter speed, ISO, aperture , and focus are unaffected. 1.7 is still 1.7. And yes, buy more memory. I agree with the previous suggestions of shooting RAW+jpg. Jumping into RAW without a jpg backup could be a problem for you.
