Thanks Ron, I see where you are going, some of my best FZ8 and FZ38 pics used -1 contrast, +1 saturation, -1 sharpness and -2 NR.

Photoshop would be too complex for me but Lightroom might be an idea, I have seen some lower prices on it occasionally.

DPR says:

"Intelligent Resolution feature nicely sharpens your photos."

Have you tried this, along with the -2 sharpness?  Allegedly it sharpens edges without increasing noise/NR frogspawn on the surfaces?
