A question about the 6 mp sensors in Pentax cameras
Nov 20, 2012

I was wondering about the 6 mega pixel sensors, which i believe were sourced from Sony, used in Pentax Dslrs.  Was the sensor used the same one from the Ist D to the K100Ds?

I understand the JPEG engine was not so great in the Ist D, was slightly better in the Ist Ds, and improved again in the K100/110 cameras, is this correct?

I have an old Ist Ds, which still works.  I like it for the most part, but the AF is not the best, the JPEGS could be sharper.  I also have a K-x, but quite often I prefer the output of the Ist Ds.

I think if I am to get better image quality, I will have to move up to the 16 MP sensored cameras.  Is this a correct assumption?

Thanks for reading.
