One small point if I may. The NEX camera system isn't just designed for people moving up from P&S cameras, its also designed for experienced SLR shooters looking to shed some gear weight and still make high quality images. So its really a case of different users with different assumptions, skills, and photo requirements. Maybe they should have called it the "NEXUS" because it acts as a crossroads for different users from very different groups.
Others have already given some great advice on "fast" lenses. I can only add what I was taught years ago. Put your money in your lenses. You are likely to own them longer than you own any single camera body. Great glass is expensive, great fast glass even more expensive. Nothing is ever going to change that. When you do put a great lens on your camera you will understand what all the fuss is about.
Good luck and enjoy your camera and your photography!
