LED continuous lighting product recommendations for indoor macro shots...
Nov 19, 2012

One of my previous threads mentioned a need for a continuous light source for use in a dimly lit room for macro shots. I have narrowed my choice to a Bescor LED500S light. I chose this model because of the following: Brightness, dimmable, no heat, affordable (~$300 US). Here are my questions:

Will an LED light source be bright enough for macro shots?

Do LED light sources last a long time?

Can anyone review this product or recommend another LED light?

Here are some product specs for the LED500S light:

  • 500W Light Panel
  • Dimmable to 15%
  • 3100 LUX at 1m (39")
  • 6500°K Color Temperature
  • 504 Pieces of Super Bright 5mm LED Bulbs
  • Removable Filter
  • Powered by 12v DC Input
  • Light Stand 74" at Max Extension
  • Panels are 12" x 11" x 1 3/8"
  • 1/4"-20 Tap Mount
  • 3 Amp Draw at 12 Volts at Full Power
