Wouldn’t the easiest solution be to just use Manual settings with Auto ISO? You would then set whatever shutter speed and aperture that you felt was appropriate and let the ISO change to compensate?

Yes you are , with auto iso set to aperture priority, the shutter speed varies according to focal length on zoom lenses, good for sports, you can choose from 5 settings based on how slow or fast you want your min shutter speed to be relative to focal length.
