finding original image on computer by image comparison and not its name

Look for metadata

I'd see if the web version still has the original metadata in it. If it does you can figure out what camera and lens were used, and what date and time the original photograph was taken. You can then use programs like Bridge to search for that information (or you can just use the Mac's search to find files created on that exact date).
