Now that this thread has unfold in its entirety and based on your own comments, I would recommend the following:

- 5DMKIII

- 24-105 F/4 L IS

- 70-200 F/4 IS

The 70-200 f/4 is relatively small, offers excellent IQ and just adds 705 grams to the overall carrying weight. A small price to pay to keep shooting at 200mm, a seemingly significant range in your photography.

Hope this helps.

Thank you, PhotoKhan!

You come to the same conclusion as I do. If I am to go the 5D III way, then I would need 24-105 F/4 L IS and 70-200 F/4 IS for daily photography (sometimes also 16-35 and 100 mm macro IS, but not often). This should be compared to my present small and light Pentax K-5 and 18-135 (and seldom used Sigma 10-20 f3.5 and Sigma 70 mm macro).

I will need to make the decision whether I want better IQ, DR, and low light capability much enough to accept a (much) bigger burden. Or possibly, I could use 5D III sometimes and Pentax the rest of the time?
